So far I have received over 200 emails. The digg story has made it to the front page, assuring more to come. It may take a while to get a response back, because I'm only starting to make a dent in the amount files that are being sent. Plus school starts again tomorrow.

The Idea

The idea for the 20 GB hard drive time capsule is that everyone gets to add their own content to a hard drive that will be reopened in 30 years and the contents posted on the internet (probably digg.com if it's still around). Anyone can send in one song, text file (This includes .pfd's), or picture under 10 MB (this is to save space) to an email address, where the file will be approved (or rejected) to be put in the hard drive. The file will go in a folder under the user's given name. After the hard drive is full, it's contents will be posted here. (Not for download, just a list of whats there.)

Guidelines:

The file cannot be NSFW, and it cannot be racist or prejudice. (No porn, no nazi music, no death metal with too much cursing or screaming)
To send a file, attach the file (which MUST be 10 MB or less) in an email to 20gbtimecapsule@gmail.com with the subject "Submission" saying:

What name you want to go under
What your file is
Why you think the file should be in the capsule (optional)

Note: If you submit your file before Wednesday, January 3, you might not get a response back before then.

Q: What if my file was submitted before?

Q: Why just pictures, text files, or songs?

A: Because .exe won't be used in 2037, I don't want to watch videos 24/7, and anything else would take too long to check. (This includes podcasts)

Q: Can I submit podcasts, etc.?

A: No.

Q: What happens when the hard drive gets full?

A: I will post here when it's full. If you don't get a response back about your file around when I post that it's full, your are too late.

Q: What if I think the idea is stupid?

A: Then send an email to 20gbtimecapsule@gmail.com saying why, with the subject being "Comments"

Q: Isn't 20 GB a little small?

A: That's the biggest hard drive I had laying around. I'll use some other ones if I need to.

Q: Won't hard drives be long gone in 2037?

A: I'll transfer the files on to a newer media storage device when the time comes.

Q: (Or rather a statement) The music you put in sucks.

A: I don't like half the music on my list, I just put it in because it's popular.
